Integrations
Works with the tools you already use
Accounting files, Zapier and Make, Google Sheets, your phone’s calendar, your own website and an open API. Every card says plainly whether it is available now, coming soon or on request.
- Available now Built and switched on. You can use it today.
- Coming soon Built or planned, but not switched on yet.
- On request Not built. We add it when barns ask for it.
Accounting
Get the money side into the program your bookkeeper already uses, as a file you download and import.
QuickBooks Online: file export
Available now Available on Pro and up
Download your barn’s income and expenses as a file QuickBooks Online reads when you import bank transactions.
How it works. Open Settings, then Integrations, then Accounting. Choose QuickBooks and a date range, check the preview, and download the file in two clicks.
Xero: file export
Available now Available on Pro and up
Download transactions, or your boarder statements as invoices in the layout Xero imports. Invoices arrive in Xero as drafts for you to check.
How it works. Choose Xero, pick transactions or statements and a date range, then download.
Xero’s import headings can change, so the file reminds you to compare it with Xero’s own template.
Wave: file export
Available now Available on Pro and up
Download your income and expenses as a statement file Wave accepts, with a date, a description and one amount.
How it works. Choose Wave and a date range, then download and upload the file in Wave.
QuickBooks Online: direct connection
Coming soon Available on Pro and up
Send boarder statements straight to QuickBooks as invoices, with no file. We have built it, and it stays switched off until we have finished Intuit’s review.
How it works. Until then, the file export above gets your numbers into QuickBooks today.
Automation
Connect Stable SideKick to the other apps you use, without writing code. Barn events are sent to a web address you choose.
Zapier
Available now Available on Premier
Turn barn events, such as a new appointment or a charge to a boarder, into actions in Google Calendar, Slack, Google Sheets and other apps.
How it works. Start a Zap with “Webhooks by Zapier” and its Catch Hook, paste its web address into Settings, and press Send test event.
We are not listed in Zapier’s app directory, so you connect with a Catch Hook address. Zapier’s webhook trigger may need one of Zapier’s paid plans.
Make
Available now Available on Premier
The same events work with any tool that can receive a webhook, including a Make scenario that starts with a custom webhook.
How it works. Add a custom webhook in Make, paste its address into Settings, and send a test event.
Direct Xero, Wave, Slack and Mailchimp connections
On request
Today these work through files or through Zapier or Make. A direct connection is not built: we add one when barns ask for it.
How it works. Tell us which one you want below and what you would do with it.
Spreadsheets and data
Your data is yours: bring it in, take it out, and put it where you work.
Google Sheets
Available now Available on Premier
Read your barn lists, or your saved boarder statements, into a sheet with a read-only key. The sheet cannot change anything in your barn.
How it works. Make a read-only key in Settings, paste the short script we show into your sheet, and refresh when you like.
Spreadsheet import and backup download
Available now
Bring horses, owners, vaccines and feed in from a spreadsheet saved as CSV, with every row checked first. Download a full backup of your barn whenever you like, and most lists download as a spreadsheet.
How it works. Use Bring your data to import, and Export Full Backup in Settings to download.
How to import a spreadsheet
Calendar
See the barn calendar where you already look at your day.
Calendar subscription
Available now
Subscribe to the barn calendar in Apple Calendar, Google Calendar or Outlook. It is one link that you can turn off at any time, and boarders only see what is meant for boarders.
How it works. Create the link in Settings, copy it, and add it as a subscription in your calendar app.
It is a subscription, so changes in your calendar app do not flow back to Stable SideKick.
Calendar on your phone
Your website
Let people find your open stalls from the website you already have.
Listing card for your website
Available now
A small card with your logo, name and headline, and a Contact button that opens your public page.
How it works. Publish your open-stalls page, copy the listing card code from Settings, and paste it into your website.
Put it on your websiteOpen-stalls page and inquiries
Available now
A public page of your open stalls with an inquiry form. Each inquiry lands on a list you work through from New to Moved in.
How it works. Publish the page from Settings and share its link.
About the public page
Developers
For the person who would rather write a script. Everything is documented.
Read-only REST API
Available now Available on Premier
Lists of horses, people, appointments, calendar events and tasks, limited to the documented fields (no contact details or notes). A separate kind of key reads saved boarder statement totals. Keys can be revoked any time.
How it works. Make a key in Settings and call it from your server or script. Every list can also come back as a CSV file.
It is read-only, for servers and scripts rather than web pages, and it limits each key to 120 requests a minute.
Developer docsOpenAPI description
Available now
The API is described in a public OpenAPI 3 document that needs no key, so tools can read it directly.
How it works. It is served at /api/v1/open/openapi.json on stablesidekick.com.
Developer docsSigned webhooks
Available now Available on Premier
10 events, such as a new horse, a booked appointment or a finished task, are posted to your address and signed so you can check they are ours. They carry names and ids only, never money amounts, notes or message text.
How it works. Add an https address in Settings, pick the events and press Send test event. A failed delivery is tried again.

Three automations that work today
Zapier and Make start from a barn event. These are ready to copy. Each one needs webhooks, which are available on Premier, plus a Zapier or Make account of your own.
- 1
New appointment to Google Calendar
When:
appointment.created(A vet, farrier or other appointment was booked.)Then: Google Calendar creates an event with the horse, the type and the day.
Handy for a farrier or vet who lives in Google Calendar.
- 2
New message to Slack
When:
message.created(A message was sent in a conversation. The text is never included.)Then: Slack posts a line in the channel you choose when a message arrives.
Only the fact that a message arrived is sent. The words stay in Stable SideKick.
- 3
Charge to a boarder to a spreadsheet row
When:
boarder_charge.created(An expense was charged to a boarder. The amount is not included; read it from the API if you need it.)Then: Google Sheets adds a row with the date, the category and the person.
The amount is never sent, only that a charge was made.
Every event a webhook can send
horse.created- A horse was added to the roster.horse.archived- A horse was archived (left the barn).appointment.created- A vet, farrier or other appointment was booked.chore.completed- A task was marked done.incident.created- An incident was logged.calendar_event.created- A calendar event was added.care_event.created- A medication entry was logged for a horse.message.created- A message was sent in a conversation. The text is never included.boarder_charge.created- An expense was charged to a boarder. The amount is not included; read it from the API if you need it.document.expiring- A vaccine, Coggins, health certificate or uploaded paper reached its 60, 30 or 7 day reminder. Ids and days left only - no titles or text.
How the barn’s email and texts are sent
Twilio and SendGrid carry the barn’s text messages and emails behind the scenes. They are how Stable SideKick sends, not integrations you set up, so they are not listed above.
Request an integration
Tell us which program you use and what you would like it to do. We read every request and reply by email.
Questions
Does Stable SideKick connect to QuickBooks?
Today you download your income and expenses as a file and import it into QuickBooks Online, which takes a couple of minutes. A direct connection that sends boarder statements as invoices is built but switched off until we have finished Intuit’s review, so it is marked coming soon.
Do I need a paid Zapier account?
Zapier’s webhook trigger can need one of Zapier’s paid plans, which is Zapier’s rule, not ours. You can also use Make, or any other tool that can receive a webhook.
Is it safe to connect my barn’s data?
The barn-list API shares names, ids, dates and schedules, never contact details or notes, and boarder statement totals only to a separate key made for that. Webhooks carry names and ids only, never amounts or message text. API keys are read-only, can be limited to what they need and can be revoked at any time. Webhook addresses must be https and are signed so you can check they are ours.
The tool I use is not listed. Can you add it?
Tell us which one and what you would do with it using the form on this page. If it can receive a webhook it may already work through Zapier or Make.
